The Return of the Megalodon, Synopsis & Review of The Meg

The story of The Meg film is taken from a novel entitled Meg: A Novel Deep of Terror by Steve Alten which was released in 1997. This novel tells about the terror of the ancient shark Megalodon which attacks the coastal area of the island of Maui. In this novel, it is also told how Jonas found out about the existence of the Megalodon before turning it into the film The Meg.

In the story in Novel, this ancient shark was pregnant with another megalodon and one of the Megalodons was able to get out of the Mariana Trench due to a small earthquake which caused the shark's exit wide open into the open ocean. This makes sense when in the film The Meg, it turns out that another bigger megalodon rises to the surface of the sea.

However, I have one question, if Megalodon is pregnant, does that mean there are other Megalodons not in the Mariana Trench? Hmm... Looks like there will be another Megalodon film that will continue the story of The Meg.

Hmmm, why did I say that the terror in this film is quite gripping? This is because the director often includes elements of comedy in the midst of ongoing terror. It seems that if I pay attention, almost all the scary scenes that should be able to make the audience close their eyes in horror, must be broken due to the behavior of one of the actors and actresses.

I don't know maybe because Turteltaub wants children over 13 years old to be comfortable watching it or what, but what's clear is that this trivial matter shouldn't have passed the editing process so that the terror felt made the Megalodon a monster that everyone was super afraid of.

No wonder the production budget for this film reached up to $ 178 million! Besides having a good story plot, the setting of this film is also extraordinary. Manna One is described as a sturdy and majestic laboratory. Followed again with a basic depiction of the Mariana Trench which is really good.

It doesn't end there, the coolest CGI is seen in the ancient shark Megalodon himself. Although there is little that looks very much like computer animation, the film effects expert made the jumbo-sized Megalodon look real both when seen on the surface and when it was swaying in the water.

At the beginning of 2019 yesterday, the producer, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, said that he and his team were working together on making a new script for The Meg 2. However, they have not confirmed when The Meg 2 will actually air; Apart from the new script, the entire production team for The Meg 2 also wanted to display better visual effects, so it took hard work.

The shooting process will begin in October 2020 and most likely the film will be ready to become a blockbuster in 2023. This is also supported by the statement of Ben Wheatley, filmmaker of The Meg 2. For the actors and actresses who join; mostly still using old characters plus some new characters.

Overall, the film The Meg is good enough to entertain audiences who want to watch a film with a shark theme but not too nauseating to see blood everywhere. Comedy, tense and brutal action Megalodon vs. Jonas cs. It will make you not move from your chair until the film is over. Guaranteed!
