Priscilla Presley Opens Up About Her Unwavering Commitment to Elvis and Her Choice to Stay Single

The former actress, who was once married to the legendary music icon, recently spoke about her decision to remain unmarried since their six-year marriage ended in 1973. She explained that she believed Elvis wouldn't have been able to handle her remarrying while he was alive.

"To be completely honest," she revealed during a Q&A session at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas on November 3, as reported by People, "I never had the desire to marry again after him."

There have long been rumors that Priscilla had made a promise never to marry again as long as Elvis was alive. While the 78-year-old didn't explicitly confirm the rumor, she did mention that she never had any inclination to marry even after the singer's passing in 1977, just four years after their divorce.

As she explained, "No one could ever measure up to him."

Priscilla also shared the reasons behind the couple's decision not to have more children after their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, was born in 1968. "Elvis believed he had a hectic schedule, and he carried some guilt that he wasn't around much during Lisa's early years," she explained. "Due to his demanding schedule and frequent touring, he felt he couldn't devote enough attention to having another child."

Priscilla's relationship with the King of Rock and Roll was detailed in her 1985 memoir, "Elvis and Me," which was recently adapted into a film featuring Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny. The project, which was released last month, received Priscilla's endorsement as an executive producer, despite criticism from her daughter, Lisa Marie, before her untimely passing at the age of 54.

Priscilla Presley Shares Why She Never Remarried

In a 2022 email exchange with director Sofia Coppola, Lisa Marie expressed her discontent, stating, "My father only comes across as a predator and manipulative. As his daughter, I don't read this and see any of my father in this character. I don't read this and see my mother's perspective of my father. I read this and see your shockingly vengeful and contemptuous perspective, and I don't understand why."
